Getting to the Embassy Suites near Dupont Circle
Getting to the Embassy Suites near Dupont Circle is a cinch. If you want to create a
Google map, use these addresses, but know that the shortest walking path takes you
down a one-way street and Google won't let you do it because it assumes you're in a car.

Embassy Suites
1250 22nd Street NW, Washington, DC 20037

Dupont Circle Metro station
1445 19th ST NW, Washington, DC 20036

We're in the northwest quadrant of the city, so all addresses are "NW." Don't make the
mistake of trying to go to the same street address in a different quadrant!

If you come in on Metrorail, you'll take the Red Line to Dupont Circle. As you step off the
train, you'll see this sign:
The Embassy Suites are south-west of the Dupont Circle, so you want to head to the right,
toward "Dupont Circle / South."
Once you turn right, you'll be facing an "up" escalator. Go up it (you're just following the
signs, and probably half of the people who just stepped off the train with you, unless it's
empty, like it was on a lovely Sunday afternoon when I took these photographs.)
From there, it's easy to find the Metro exit. You'll slide your farecard through a faregate in
order to leave, and then you'll take another escalator to the surface:
You pop out on the surface. Here's what the Metro stop looks like from BEHIND it (you'll
be facing this direction, down 19th ST NW, as you come up out of the escalator):
Google Maps says that the Metro entrance is in the center of Dupont Circle, but it isn't. It's
on 19th ST NW, sort of across from a Baja Fresh, and right next to a CVS. If you want to
turn around and see Dupont Circle, here's what it'll look like:
It's a busy traffic circle, with a nice pedestrian area in the middle, surrounded by various
restaurants and conveniences (like a Bank of America and another CVS, which appears
almost on every corner around here). But if you want to go to the hotel, don't walk toward
Dupont Circle. Turn around and walk south down 19th ST NW for two blocks. When you
reach N ST NW, turn right (Yes, "N" street, the letter "N"). You'll walk three easy,
residential, slightly downhill blocks. You'll then reach 22nd ST NW and be able to see the
Embassy Suites through the trees:
It's lovely inside:
And the guest elevators are very close to the lobby doors and atrium:
That's it! It's very easy to walk to. If you need any advice about general travel, please see
